Trey Gowdy and Tim Scott

Unified

Great chat with Congressman Trey Gowdy and Senator Tim Scott about their new book Unified: How Our Unlikely Friendship Gives Us Hope to a Divided Country

In a divided country desperate for unity, two sons of South Carolina show how different races, life experiences, and pathways can lead to a deep friendship—even in a state that was rocked to its core by the 2015 Charleston church shooting.

Tim Scott, an African-American US senator, and Trey Gowdy, a white US congressman, won’t allow racial lines to divide them. They work together, eat meals together, campaign together, and make decisions together. Yet in the fall of 2010—as two brand-new members of the US House of Representatives—they did not even know each other. Their story as politicians and friends began the moment they met and is a model for others seeking true reconciliation.

Milliken’s Innovation Gallery

I have lived in  Upstate SC my entire life….and always known about Milliken and Company, but NEVER had any idea of how many products they are involved with. For example, that clear plastic bottle you drink water from….Milliken’s research team developed the chemical reaction that allows the plastic to be clear.  The Innovation Gallery does an amazing job of telling their story.

From their website:

By combining science with design and insights, Milliken tackles the issues and concerns of today. Every day, our community of innovators is invigorated by the challenge of finding creative ways to enhance people’s lives and make the world around us easier, safer, more sustainable and more beautiful.

Milliken has long led the way for “knowledge-based” investment, employing over 100 PhDs, and has accumulated over 2,200 U.S. patents – and more than 5,000 patents worldwide – since our founding in 1865.

With over 35 manufacturing facilities located in the U.S., U.K., Belgium, France, China, India, and Australia, and other sales and service operations throughout the Americas, Europe, and Asia, Milliken’s more than 7,000 associates work to deliver innovations that do good for the world, create new experiences, and build for the future.

Joey Hudson spends a few minutes with Danika Yarosh discussing her role, as Caroline Found, in this inspirational film.

Reba McIntire…Back to God

I have always loved Reba McEntire’s music and some of her best (but little known) is her spiritual songs.
