Breakthrough

BREAKTHROUGH is based on the inspirational true story of one mother’s unfaltering love in the face of impossible odds. When Joyce Smith’s adopted son John falls through an icy Missouri lake, all hope seems lost. But as John lies lifeless, Joyce refuses to give up. Her steadfast belief inspires those around her to continue to pray for John’s recovery, even in the face of every case history and scientific prediction. From producer DeVon Franklin (Miracles from Heaven) and adapted for the screen by Grant Nieporte (Seven Pounds) from Joyce Smith’s own book, BREAKTHROUGH is an enthralling reminder that faith and love can create a mountain of hope, and sometimes even a miracle.

Opening in theaters nationwide on April 17th.  See the trailer.

John Smith (the real John Smith!!!) joined me for a few minutes on the show.  Take a moment to listen to his inspiring story.

GREENVILLE HEROES: SERVE & PROTECT LUNCHEON

A Community Event to Support our Greenville City Police Officers & Firefighters

August 30th, 2018 | Hyatt Regency | 12 noon.

On August 30, 2018 Hyatt Regency will hold the fourth Greenville Heroes: Serve & Protect Awards Luncheon to bring much deserved recognition to two local heroes and to benefit two existing scholarship funds for Greenville City Firefighters and City Police Officers.

Planned as an every other year event for the community, the Hero Among Heroes Award will be given at the luncheon to a firefighter and a police officer in recognition of his/her exceptional, professional dedication and service in Greenville.

DJ Rama, President and CEO of Auro Hotels, is serving as host of the event and chair of the fundraising endeavor. Rama said, “Greenville is a safe and wonderful place to live, and we know our first responders play a large role in making it so. Their hard work and dedication in our community is worthy of our admiration and appreciation. This community event will let our police officers, firefighters and their families know that we do not take their service for granted.”

Through 2018, a total of 560 scholarships totaling $872,726 have been granted from these two funds, and they remain essential sources of support for these students. The Greenville Heroes: Serve and Protect Awards Luncheon will enlarge the funding sources for each.

Heather Meadors and Lt. Jason Rampey joined me for a few minutes to talk about the upcoming event.

Water of Life

When Roland Bergeron, owner of a custom home building company, first heard that more than 800 million people in the world didn’t have access to clean water, he was shocked. An engineer by trade, he became even more involved in water ministry in 2002, when he went on his first mission trip to Central America. On that trip, his heart was so stirred that he continued to participate in multiple trips to Central America.

Still, Roland knew that God was calling him to take more action, and in 2002 he led a group of volunteers to found Water of Life to provide water wells to those most in need of clean water in this world. In 2004, Roland made the life-changing trip to Liberia, West Africa, soon adding Sierra Leone and eventually India to the service area. Finding his life’s calling, Roland turned over his home building company to his son’s care, and Water of Life has since spread, serving hundreds of thousands of people every year in these three countries.  It was a pleasure to spend a few minutes with Roland to talk about Water of Life’s mission and how we can help.[podcast src=”https://html5-player.libsyn.com/embed/episode/id/6887878/height/200/width/450/theme/standard/autonext/no/thumbnail/yes/autoplay/no/preload/no/no_addthis/no/direction/forward/” height=”200″ width=”450″ placement=”bottom” theme=”standard”]
