Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill” Gets Digital Push with New Tax Savings Calculator
The White House launched a new website Tuesday to promote the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, a sweeping piece of legislation tied to former President Donald Trump’s economic agenda. At the heart of the site is a calculator that lets Americans find out exactly how much money they’ll save if the bill passes.
The site’s homepage reads, “We are preparing your tax cuts,” and showcases a photo of President Trump, along with a message celebrating widespread support from American industry. Over 1,000 businesses, including Uber and DoorDash, have backed the bill.
What Is the Big Beautiful Bill?
The One Big Beautiful Bill Act is a multitrillion-dollar legislative package covering taxes, immigration, energy, defense, and the national debt. The House passed its version in May, and now Senate Republicans are racing to move it forward before their July 4 deadline.
Key features include:
- Elimination of taxes on tips and overtime pay
- Across-the-board income tax cuts
- Medicaid eligibility changes for undocumented immigrants
- Increased border security funding
How Much Could You Save?
The website’s built-in savings calculator estimates personal tax savings under the proposed bill. Users input their weekly base pay, tips, and overtime premiums, and the tool calculates estimated monthly and yearly savings.
Example 1:
- Weekly pay: $665
- Tips: $260
- Overtime: $100
- Estimated yearly savings: $2,246
- Estimated monthly savings: $187
Example 2:
- Weekly pay: $200
- Tips: $400
- Overtime: $200
- Estimated yearly savings: $2,954
- Estimated monthly savings: $246
Trump has emphasized that cutting taxes on tipped workers and those with overtime income is a priority, especially after four years of economic policy battles under the Biden administration.
Political Firestorm Brewing
While many Republicans are backing the bill, a few—including Sen. Rand Paul—are raising alarms about its impact on the national debt. Paul argues the bill would effectively raise the debt ceiling by $5 trillion and delay serious fiscal reform.
Trump, not one to hold back, called out Paul on Truth Social, accusing him of aligning with the “Radical Left” and threatening a 68% tax hike on Americans if the bill fails.
“Rand will be playing right into the hands of the Democrats, and the GREAT people of Kentucky will never forgive him!” Trump posted.
Stakes Are High
According to a White House internal study, failure to pass the bill could lead to a recession that costs 9 million Americans their health insurance. Senate Republicans are under pressure to unify and deliver what Trump calls the “largest tax cut, ever.”
Sen. Mike Rounds (R-SD) told Fox News Digital that families will see higher taxes if the Senate fails to act. The next few weeks will be crucial as negotiations heat up on Capitol Hill.
