COVID 19 and The Blood Connection

Recently the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has authorized the emergency use of convalescent plasma for individual patients who are critically ill with COVID-19. Although many details remain uncertain, The Blood Connection is  preparing to collect and distribute these products for patient treatment. Dr. Robert Rainer, medical director at The Blood Connection  told WYFF News 4 “After you get infected, your immunity is there and what we have are antibodies that is present in plasma we can transfer to somebody else.”  Dr. Rainer joined The Morning Answer to discuss why this is important to the Carolina’s and the overall blood supply in the area.
