Guy Furay for Congress

Guy Furay is a candidate for South Carolina’s Fourth Congressional District, representing the American Party of South Carolina.  An active member of the Upstate community for years, Guy is owner and founder of The Insurance Source, based in downtown Greer, S.C., where he has been able to build expertise in health insurance and become an expert on the details of the Affordable Care Act.

Throughout his career, Guy has put people first, dedicating his time to various committees within the Upstate Chambers of Commerce, as well as local non-profits like Compass of Carolina, which focused on counseling and services for victims and perpetrators of domestic violence. He also has served as a coach and mentor for local youth sports. He is married to the lovely Myra Ruiz, an anchor on WACH FOX in Columbia, and has two sons, Jackson and William, and a daughter, Jasmine.

Guy decided to run for Congress after fully realizing that his “listen first” and “people first” mentality wasn’t shared by current leadership, leaving our local citizens struggling. He desires real progress—independent of the two-party system and its inefficiencies—something desperately needed at this time in our nation’s history.

We spent a few minutes with Guy on Upstate Live to get to know him. Take some time to listen.

4th District Congressional Debate Get’s Contentious

On Monday, June 18th, 94-5 WGTK The Answer along with First Monday Greenville, the Greenville County GOP and the South Carolina GOP hosted what appears to be the only debate between the two final candidates in the GOP run-off primary to be held June 26th.  Senator William Timmons and former Senator Lee Bright were both present to discuss the issues. The race has attracted some national attention as the final week has grown a little more contentious according to Politico.  Monday’s debate did get a bit more exciting as the two candidates “Clashed Over Personal Finances”.  According the GreenvilleOnline this is the only debate both candidates will be participating in prior to voting.

A special thanks to WYFF and SCETV for being there to video stream.  In case you missed the event you can see it below.
