Sometimes things just don’t fall into a pre-defined category…
it’s just stuff!!

Covid Relief the American People Don’t Need

I’m puzzled by the results of a poll….concerning the $1.9 trillion Biden Covid 19 relief plan, or affectionately known by Democrats, as the “American Rescue Plan Act of 2021.”

A majority of Republican voters support President Joe Biden’s $1.9 trillion COVID-19 relief package, according to the Morning Consult poll, which found that 60 percent of Republicans supports the stimulus bill most likely to be voted on by the U. S. House of Representatives this week.  Of that majority, 34 percent said they strongly supported the measure, and 26 percent said they somewhat supported it.

The Epoch Times writes “much of the balance of funds covered by the proposal is slated for non-CCP-virus purposes.”  Just a few examples listed:

$350 billion allocated to bail out the 50 states and the District of Columbia. The allocation, which is based on unemployment rates, effectively subsidizes the programs of Democratic blue-state governors such as California’s Gavin Newsom and New York’s Andrew Cuomo, who had the strictest lockdown policies. States such as Florida are penalized because they remained open for business and continued to flourish with minimal economic withdrawal.

$270 million for the National Endowment of the Arts and the Humanities, which had a $253 million budget last year. A 2017 Open The Books analysis found that 80 percent of the agency’s nonprofit grant-making flowed to well-heeled organizations with more than $1 million in assets.

$200 million for The Institute of Museum and Library Services, which is so comparatively small that it doesn’t even employ an inspector general.

Another great group doing some needed analysis is The Heritage Foundation in their DailySignal.com newsletter. David Ditch, in his “8 Things You Must Know About Deeply Flawed COVID-19 Package” speaks of how the latest “relief” will add another $14k, per household, to the national debt.

So again, I ask the question, who are these “Republicans” who support this type of PORK spending?  Would love to hear from you….email me at joey@joeyhudson.com

PS…one more thing: I picked up a copy of the official White House Photographs of President Trump’s 4 years in office. There are over 250 historical photographs in the collection. I’d recommend grabbing a copy while you can.

Phil Boyce on the Future of Talk Radio

Phil Boyce, SVP/Spoken Word Format, Salem Media Group and Salem Radio Network,  wrote an excellent column on the role Talk Radio will play over the next few years with Democrats in control of  The White House and both house of Congress. You can read the column published on Talkers.com titled: Talk Radio: America’s Last Best Hope Out of this Mess

Take a minute to listen as I visited with Phil on The Morning Answer.

Democrat’s New Gun Control

Joe Biden, and the democrat majority, promised the American people there would be change, but are Americans really ready for the change that is be proposed? Let’s take the Second Amendment…it’s pretty straight forward: it protects the right to “keep and bear arms”. Democrat Representative Sheila Jackson Lee has served in the US House of Representatives for almost three decades and wants to put conditions on Second Amendment rights without changing the constitution. Ms. Jackson Lee proposes in H.R. 127 to “provide for the licensing of firearm and ammunition possession and the registration of firearms, and to prohibit the possession of certain ammunition” …. with some hefty fines if one disobeys.

For example, to own a firearm under H.R. 127 you will need to be 21 years of age; pass a criminal background check; undergo a psychological  evaluation; successfully complete 24 hours of training and pay a fee of at least $800. By the way, the psychological evaluation must be done by a “licensed psychologist” who will be required to interview your spouse (and any former spouses) and at least two other persons who are a member of the family to “further determine the state of mental, emotional and relational stability of the individual in relation to firearms.” The Attorney General may deny said license if the psychological evaluation finds the applicant suffers from mental illness and/or is “disturbed”…what former spouse would not consider their EX “disturbed”!!

The new registration requirements will apply to all newly purchased firearms and you will be required to register any guns owned prior to the effective date of H.R. 127 within 3 months of passage.  Once the Attorney General establishes the “firearms database” the information will be made available to….basically, the whole world!! Anyone, including all levels of the military and law enforcement. If, for any reason, your license expires and/or is revoked you will be required to surrender all firearms and ammunition.

Included in H.R. 127 are lots of interesting definitions:

Military-Style weapon: includes any firearms, or copies or duplicates in any caliber, known as – Norinco, Mitchell, Beretta Ar70, Colt AR-15 to name just a few. These would include any semiautomatic rifle with the ability to accept a detachable magazine and has at least 2 of – a pistol grip; folding or telescoping stock; bayonet mount; flash suppressor or threaded barrel designed to accommodate a flash suppressor. Also falling under this definition will be semiautomatic pistols that have the ability to accept a “detachable magazine” outside of the pistol grip and includes one of the following: a threaded barrel capable of accepting a barrel extender, flash suppressor, forward handgrip, or silencer; a shroud that allows the shooter to hold the firearm with the nontrigger hand without being burned and/or a weight of 50 ounces or more when the pistol is unloaded.

One final thing – you must notify the Attorney General of the United States if you decide to sale or gift the firearm AND you must also notify the AG if you “loan” that souped-up Glock to your grandson to take to the firing range for some practice.
