Medical Marijuana: Is it Safe?

[podcast src=”https://html5-player.libsyn.com/embed/episode/id/7762559/height/360/theme/standard/thumbnail/yes/preload/no/direction/forward/” height=”360″ width=”100%” placement=”top” theme=”standard”]Six years ago, Colorado took the first step in a movement that has swept the nation: legalizing marijuana.  While some supported the move there are no facts about what happens when states increase access to marijuana.  Six years after legalizing marijuana studies show more youth are using marijuana, impaired traffic fatalities are on the rise and dispensaries are recommending that pregnant women use marijuana for morning sickness.  Curtis Reece, Director of Prevention and Community-Based Services, at the Phoenix Center, joined me on Week N Pulse.

Electricity Choice will lower power bills in South Carolina

[podcast src=”https://html5-player.libsyn.com/embed/episode/id/7755092/height/360/theme/standard/thumbnail/yes/preload/no/direction/forward/” height=”360″ width=”100%” placement=”top” theme=”standard”]Electricity Choice will lower power bills in South Carolina. Here’s a principled, practical and proven plan to make that happen.

According to a new report released this week by the Palmetto Promise Institute, South Carolinians pay more for electricity than any other state in the union. In the report, Dr. Oran Smith, a Senior Fellow at Palmetto Promise, argues that  a simple innovation can provide relief. That solution? Eliminating defined service territories for electrical utilities  which will inject free enterprise into the electricity market in the Palmetto State. The experiences of other states show how electricity choice will lower prices and improve customer service and innovation. Dr. Smith says this  is a welcome solution for South Carolina, a state with many providers that due to fixed territories and fixed prices, denies its citizens access to multiple options.  See the full report HERE.
